Profile

Takefumi Hiraki received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 2014, 2016, and 2019, respectively. He served as a JSPS Research Fellow (PD) at the University of Osaka, an assistant professor at University of Tsukuba, and a Senior Research Scientist at Cluster Metaverse Lab. Currently, he is an associate professor at the Institute of Library, Information and Media Science, University of Tsukuba, with a joint appointment at Cluster Metaverse Lab. His research interests include virtual reality, metaverse, human-computer interaction, haptic interfaces, and soft robotics.


Research Interest

I am interested in the field of XR (VR/AR/MR) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), specifically in the foundational technologies related to projectors and displays, and in the research of reality-augmentation through environmental and human augmentation utilizing these technologies. Additionally, I am also involved in research related to interfaces and content utilizing metaverse platforms, haptic interfaces, and soft robotics.
